✅ Will washing reduce FR protection?
No — as long as you follow these guidelines. The flame-resistant property of this 9.5 oz FR cotton is built into the fiber chemistry itself, not a surface coating. It does not wash out with normal laundering. What will destroy it: chlorine bleach and fabric softener. Avoid those two, and you're safe.
When Should You
Replace the Jacket?
With correct care, this jacket maintains FR performance through 75+ wash cycles — approximately 2–3 years of regular use. Physical condition matters more than wash count alone.
Replace Right Now
- Any burn holes or scorch marks — even small ones
- Oil, fuel or chemical stains that won't wash out
